Hollis Brookline Crew's Uniform & Spirit Wear

Welcome! Here you will find everything you need to know about what to wear when practicing on the water or competing in regattas—and where to purchase HB Crew uniforms and merch.

WHAT TO WEAR…

For racing

  • First season rowers (boys and girls) wear a navy crew tech t-shirt (provided by the club) and black trou or bike/spandex shorts for racing.

  • Boys – Second season novice and varsity athletes wear unisuits for racing (shown here).

  • Girls – Second season novice and varsity athletes wear either unisuits (recommended) or an HB Crew tank and black trou.

For practice

When rowing, close-fitting clothing is a must at all times. Loose/baggy tops and bottoms will get caught in slides (seats) or oar handles. Synthetic under layers (dry fit/moisture wicking fabric) are ideal, as cotton can get heavy when wet, doesn’t dry quickly and can make you very cold. And, be sure to wear socks when rowing (to avoid blisters and feeling like you have a bare foot in a sweaty bowling shoe!)

Windbreakers, sweatshirts, fleeces and sweatpants are great for layering over your practice clothes or uniform when warming up and/or hanging out at regattas (which can often be chilly).

Recommended extra: Rowing/baseball cap or visor to help keep your face protected from sun or rain – for practices and racing. Caps and visors made out of tech/performance material are best, and are offered in our store. (Many of our girls prefer visors to caps.)

WHERE TO GET YOUR GEAR …

Our uniform and team spirit wear vendor is SewSporty. The company produces our custom-made uniform apparel (e.g. unisuits, tanks and trou) and other HB Crew branded clothing (e.g. tech jackets, sweatshirts, fleeces, long- and short-sleeved t-shirts, caps and visors and more).

And, you can order all of it from the HB Crew Store year-round!

This said, please note that uniform orders can take up to four to six weeks for production and delivery, so plan accordingly before each season.

We have a small inventory of some spirit wear on hand for purchase (list of items coming soon), but we do not carry uniform pieces as they are made-to-fit each rower.
