HB Crew runs a learn to row program during 2 weeks in the summer.  This is a great opportunity for you to learn either rowing (with one oar) or sculling (with two oars). This is a two hour session to either start from scratch with the sport, try out sculling for the first time if you have focused on rowing or just improve on your current level.

HB Crew has Rowing Programs for both High School and Middle School Rowers. Crew team is primarily from Hollis Brookline School district, but we do take a limited number of athletes from out of district.

High School Rowing:

High School has two rowing seasons - Fall, beginning in September, and Spring, beginning in April.

Rowing practice is from 2.45pm - 5.15pm Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and  from 8am - 10.30am Saturday, at Lone Pine Hunters Club, 114 Rideout Road in Hollis.

Competitions happen on select weekends (Saturday or Sunday) and take place in NH, MA and occasionally further afield for large events.

During the Winter season, we train in the High School gym, a combination of land training, erg machines, weights and general fitness.

TRYOUTS: all new rowers will be asked to Try Out for crew and will be asked to meet the coaches and do a brief Erg test (rowing machine).  Those wishing to join crew are encouraged to come to one of our summer Learn To Row programs, but this is not required.

Middle School Rowing:

Middle School also two rowing seasons - Fall, beginning in September, and Spring, beginning in April.

Rowing practice is on Fridays from 2.45pm - 4.30pm at Lone Pine in Hollis.

Middle School athletes focus on learning to row (scull) during the Fall, and do limited competitions during Spring Season.  There is no Winter training for Middle School, but they are encouraged to keep fit through other sports.
